01Project Overview
Bellissimo Colors is a Florida-based premium tempered glass backsplash brand offering bespoke kitchen wall art panels — heat resistant, scratch resistant, and fully customisable. With worldwide free shipping and a product range spanning mosaic,
stone-effect, floral, and abstract patterns, the brand had genuine differentiation and a quality offer. Their Shopify store, however, suffered from critical development errors, broken imagery throughout, duplicate content, and a conversion
flow that left buyers with no confidence to purchase a high-ticket item online. Ariobe performed a full design, development, and CRO rebuild to make the store worthy of the product.
📢 Presenter Script
When a customer lands on a premium home décor store and sees broken images, identical product descriptions, and text that reads “this is just a warning” — they leave. The product was exceptional. The store was silently destroying every purchase
intention. Our job was to build a digital experience that matched the quality of what they sell.

02Critical Development Issues Found
🔴
Dev artifact left in productionthe literal string “this is just a warning” appeared in the live page source code, visible to browser developer tools and potentially to users. A clear sign the theme was not properly QA-tested before launch.

🔴
Announcement bar duplicated 11+ times in DOMa broken ticker/marquee implementation caused the same two messages (“Hurry Up Now! Up to 10% off” and “Free shipping on All Orders”) to repeat 11 times each in the page source — creating DOM bloat and a poor first impression.

🔴
Hero carousel has 2 of 3 image slots brokenonly one hero image loads successfully. The remaining two slots render as empty anchor tags — broken glass backsplash imagery on the first thing a visitor sees.

🔴
“Featured On” product images all brokenall three “Featured On Bellissimo Colors” product cards render with empty image tags — the entire featured section shows grey boxes where compelling product photography should be.

🔴
All blog post thumbnail images brokenthe “Latest Posts” section shows three blog articles — each with a completely broken thumbnail. The blog is a key SEO asset but appears abandoned and untrustworthy.

🟡
Blog post URL/title mismatch — stale content signal“Top 10 Backsplash Ideas in 2024” links to URL slug /backsplash-ideas-in-2020 — a 4-year-old URL that signals outdated content to both visitors and search engines.

🟡
Sign-in URL hard-coded to Nigeria geo (region_country=NG)the customer authentication redirect contains a hard-coded Nigerian region parameter. For a US-based brand shipping worldwide, this creates geo-targeting mismatches and potential checkout localisation issues.

🟡
“New Arrivals” and “Trending Now” sections show identical productsboth homepage collection sections display the exact same 4 products — giving repeat visitors zero reason to scroll and wasting two prime homepage sections on duplicated content.

03CRO & Design Problems
Generic copy on every featured productall “Featured On” products carry word-for-word identical descriptions: “Upgrade your traditional or modern kitchen with the new a décor trend!” — including a grammatical error (“with the new a décor trend”). This destroys differentiation and kills SEO uniqueness.

Weak 5% discount creates zero urgencyproducts are listed at $122.55 (was $129.00 — 5% off). For a $120+ home décor purchase, a 5% discount is psychologically irrelevant. No countdown, no stock scarcity, no bundle offer to create meaningful purchase motivation.

No size selector, measurement guide, or custom configuratorthe brand sells custom-sized glass backsplashes but product pages show no interactive size guide, no measurement tool, and no clear process for ordering custom dimensions — the highest-value product category is effectively invisible.

No installation confidence builderspurchasing a fragile tempered glass panel for your kitchen is a high-anxiety decision. The site has installation instructions buried in the footer but no reassurance on product pages that installation is straightforward, supported, or guaranteed.

Only 3 reviews, no photography, no volumethe homepage shows Richard, Sarah, and Smith — all 5-star, all generic, all text only. No volume indicator, no photo reviews, no verified purchase signals for a high-ticket home improvement product.

No visual brand identity — theme is generic Shopify starterthe site uses what appears to be an unmodified Shopify free theme with no custom typography, no brand colour system, and no premium aesthetic to match a tempered glass luxury product line priced at $120–$220+.

09Key Takeaways
01

Development debt kills conversions silentlydev artifacts, broken images, and duplicate code are invisible to the business owner but immediately visible — and trust-destroying — to every single visitor. A thorough QA audit is non-negotiable before launch.

02

Unique copy is an SEO and conversion multiplierreplacing identical product descriptions with specific, differentiated copy improved both Google rankings and product page conversion — one fix, two results.

03

High-ticket home décor requires installation confidenceadding size guides, measurement tools, and a linked installation PDF reduced the primary barrier to purchasing a bespoke glass panel and drove a 220% increase in custom quote requests.

04

Visual identity is a conversion tool, not just aestheticscustomers browsing a $120–$220 kitchen panel expect the website to feel as premium as the product. A redesign aligned with luxury home décor standards built the credibility that drove purchase decisions.

05

Duplicate sections waste prime real estateshowing the same products in “New Arrivals” and “Trending Now” told repeat visitors there was nothing new to explore. Differentiated sections increased pages-per-session by 64%.

06

Photo reviews are essential for home improvement productsreplacing 3 generic text reviews with 127 verified photo reviews showing real kitchen installations was the single highest-impact trust change on the site.
